History of Round Rock
Round Rock developed during the nineteenth century near a crossing of Brushy Creek. The city takes its name from a large round-shaped rock in the creek that helped mark a crossing point along the historic Chisholm Trail.
The community later expanded around transportation, agriculture, commerce, residential development, and the growth of the Austin metropolitan area.
What Is Round Rock Like?

Activity is generally heavier around Interstate 35, State Highway 45, US Highway 79, La Frontera, downtown Round Rock, and major employment and retail areas. Traffic varies by time of day, construction, and destination.
